Translation Pricing

Translation pricing is based on a per word rate determined by factoring in multiple project specific criteria including: 1) the nature (relative complexity) of the source material, 2) the scope of the project (measured in word-count), and 3) turnaround time (i.e., rush vs. standard turnaround time).

We recognize that translation project schedules can be critical considerations. Actual project durations vary depending on the scope and complexity of each project. We work closely with our clients to determine project schedules that allow sufficient time for high quality translation processes and project delivery in a timely manner.

About the Finnish Language

Finnish is the language spoken by the majority of the population in Finland (92% as of 2006) and by ethnic Finns outside Finland. It is one of the two official languages of Finland and an official minority language in Sweden. In Sweden, both standard Finnish and Meänkieli, a Finnish dialect, are spoken. The Kven language, a Finnish dialect, is spoken in Northern Norway.

Finnish is the eponymous member of the Finnic language family and is typologically between fusional and agglutinative languages. It modifies and inflects the forms of nouns, adjectives, pronouns, numerals and verbs, depending on their roles in the sentence.

Finnish is spoken by about six million people who reside mainly in Finland. There are also notable Finnish-speaking minorities in Sweden, Norway, Russia, Estonia, Brazil, Canada, and the United States. The majority of the population of Finland, 91.51% as of 2006, speak Finnish as their first language. The remainder speak Swedish (5.5%), Sami (Northern, Inari, Skolt) and other languages.
